We welcome James, Pat and Paul from Leitrim Sports Partnership who are working with us for the next few weeks. Each class is working to improve agility, balance and coordination.
Congratulations and well done to the St. Manchan's 6th class debating team who won the first round of their competition on Wednesday, February 25th. They opposed the motion that "every child of school going age should have a mobile phone". "Primary Debating Ireland" are running the competition in the Education Centre in Carrick on Shannon and teams from Leitrim, Roscommon and Longford are taking part. The St. Manchan's team did the school proud and are now through to the next round which will be held in March.

On February 25th we celebrate St. Manchan whom our school is named after. St. Manchan founded a monastry in Mohill in 500 A.D. and it was situated where the Church of Ireland stands today. February 25th was until recently, the day on which a big fair called Monaghan Day took place in the town. This fair day was in memory of St. Manchan.
